Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actress, dancer and singer since the early 1990s. In her early Broadway roles, she played the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. As the character Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she won the Tony Award. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford is a veteran of her career working alongside renowned directors and actors across theatre and on television. she continues that award-winning collaboration with a variety of upcoming projects. Ashford next will star opposite Kumail in Robert Siegel's exclusive Hulu show Welcome to Chippendales which premieres November 22. Ashford currently works on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust opposite Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. The film is an Hulu Original, the film will be a part of Disney Digital Television's channels. Ashford's Broadway return is scheduled to take place on March 20, 2023. He is paired with Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will lead the production. Ashford was last seen as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The show centers around the National Crisis which put Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as the central figure in the country's First Impeachment Proceedings in Over a Century. Two seasons ago, Ashford played a prominent role in CBS's hit series B Positive. It was co-produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda Lavin Sheryl Crow, Hector Elizondo as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her performance as Essie on You Can't Take It with You earned her Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Additional Broadway roles are Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the originating role of Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Ashford is a native of Denver. She was born and born in Denver and now lives living in Los Angeles and New York.
